Familiarly Fort Kochi

The first time I had visited Fort Kochi, rather I should say WE, being our family trip to Kerala, we took a day tour of Fort Kochi from Kochi city. I was in some sort of reverie with the look of the town; the old European colonial look, the cottage style houses, the old market alleys; the entire appeal of the place was different and so new to me. This town caught my eyes and I never wanted to forget this place ever till I would come back here again and I was determined enough, ‘there has to be a next time and the stay has to be at Fort Kochi’.

Luckily the next time came and another silent but seemed-impossible-at-that-time wish was also came true. So, I did plan another Kerala trip, SOLO. And first stop, don’t bother to guess, was Fort Kochi. More than being excited for another solo trip, I was hip-hip happy to go back to Fort Kochi.

Eager to Meet

If you ask me, Sunset and Beach is a divine match beyond any comparison and for argument’s sake, even beyond my own singularly-biased illusion. If you still need any better assurance, well!! My complexion vouches for my intolerable partiality for the deep blue sea and light golden, roasted sandy beach.

Dutch Delight Elsewhere

I reached way earlier than the check in time and was wandering whether I was at the right place! I thought I booked a small house for myself, which had this typical vernacular architecture manifesting it’s by Bali, of Bali and for Bali presence. Instead, what was in front, seemed to be little unkempt and nothing alike to the pictures!

It had all the qualities of looking like a rustic village, with a clump of houses both at my left and right with lot of old furniture stuffed till the veranda, one or two roosters were mooching across the compound, a dog lazily lying on his belly looking at me (thankfully not barking! I was praying for him not to raise even his head!!); and I was standing in the middle of the small compound completely puzzled. I couldn’t see anyone, I tried calling my host but the phone kept ringing, so left a message of my arrival and waited for somebody to show up as soon as possible.

Communication And Kerala

If you ask me, Kerala in my opinion is one of the unrivalled solo travellers’ destinations in India. Though I almost say the same thing whenever I visit any place, but Kerala is surely one of my top 5 on-the-priority list of re-visiting the panoply of a place again and again.

Culture or nature, spices with culinary diversity, organic greenery reflecting on the much talked about back water-body and of course, the unforgotten and unbroken tradition of Ayurveda. Kerala wears way too many feathers on the hat.

A little Belgium way in Bali

Thankfully I chose cup noodles instead of bread omelette for the breakfast; the car is 30 minutes before time!! And how much should I pat myself for waking up early and getting ready just 5 minutes before the car came. The cup noodle was ready to eat which I would be having inside the car!! Let’s explore you Bali!!

It was my 3rd day in Bali and I was to go for a full day sightseeing, for which the car came before the given pick up time. It was a shared tour which means there would be other people in the team and I was curious to meet my co-passengers than excited or interested as the last two would be a depending factor in my doesn’t-know-how-to-get-along-with-people case.
