Ask any Kolkatan about what do they think of the ‘Chelo Kabab’, the most expected definite answer will be ‘Peter Cat’!! It’s true you know.. If we talk about the historic restaurant of Kolkata, The Peter Cat, The first thing we mention is the Chelo Kabab and the other way round undoubtedly. I never looked for Hainanese Chicken on the internet, all I was looking for was the recipe for Uncle Chin’s Chicken rice. Who is Uncle Chin?? Have you ever traveled on AirAsia? A colleague had said once, ‘do try the Chicken dishes of AirAsia, they are amazing!’. I didn’t go boarding the flight just to try their food, it was the most convenient option for me while I was travelling to Bali for the first time. My first choice of in-flight meal for the afternoon was Uncle Chin’s Chicken Rice. You know what?? I had fallen asleep and those super glamourous cabin crews didn’t even wake me up!! Thankfully God jabbed me on time, I got hold of them and politely with a pale puppy face asked for my pre-booked meal.Click here for more
One Pot Rice is never ever a bad idea for a fulfilling meal for a non-passionate cook like me. Minimum ingredients, time saving, easy to handle and appeasing taste buds followed by a well-fed tummy. Variety of menu is something I am always looking for; but I will only try those which are super easy and hassle free to make (expecting there are more such people exist!!).Click here for more
Biryani is my lustful repose, there was a time (which is long or very long back) when I used to have only and only biryani on Sundays. This is somewhere in the mid 90s, I was in primary school and online food app wasn’t in existence, & fine dining restaurants, well! whichever were there, they were out of reach for any middle-class family. But still, my father used to manage to get a box of biryani from a nearby and quite popular at that time, ‘Fast-Food’ joint.
Later, as my Biryani craving was growing like a whale, my mother took control and started preparing it in the house, in a lot simpler way of course. But that simpler biryani took over my life and my mum’s biryani is still the best for me.Click here for more
